The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held on Saturday morning of the August long weekend. It is hosted at one of our lake’s marinas (on a rotating basis).
At the AGM various directors present information about their portfolio. This is very helpful to members, as they can quickly get an overview of any issues that are impacting our lake (e.g., repairs to courtesy markers, forestry in the area, water testing results). There is usually a guest speaker who is able to bring expert information about a specific topic. At the upcoming 2018 AGM we will have OPP Traffic Sergeant Byron Newell to talk specifically about boater safety, noise on the lake, and drinking & boating. He will also conduct a Q & A session. At the 2017 meeting LWCA member and FOCA Director Terry Beetam spoke about the benefits of belonging to the Federation of Ontario Cottagers’Associations. Did you know that as a member of the LWCA you are a member of FOCA? You can find out about FOCA at https://foca.on.ca. Their website contains a wealth of information and I encourage all of you to sign up for their “Elerts” monthly newsletter.
The AGM is an excellent opportunity for members to ask questions. It is also a time to put your name forward if you would like to get a bit more involved in the lake (e.g., helping with maintaining trails).
The AGM is well attended and enjoyed – both as an information meeting as well as a social event. Lunch is provided to members. Please save the date for our upcoming AGM, Saturday August 4, 2018, to be held at Weslemkoon Marina. Registration opens at 9:30. The meeting begins at 10:00. Bring a lawnchair.
