Karl Austin - Rest In Peace
Everyone on the lake will be saddened to learn that Karl passed away on December 18th, 1999.  Our sympathy goes out to Jean, Guy, Barb and family.  Karl served as LWCA President 1983-85, and had a long and wonderful association with the lake, some of which will be recalled in the next Loon Call.

Waste management update:
LWCA members responded in overwhelming numbers to the recent survey on Waste Management.  The results are being compiled, and a summary will appear on the website early in January 2000.  (Flash Jan 2, 2000 - survey results now available - click here) Responses received after December 30th will still be accepted for a limited time. Click here if you have not yet replied on the survey

Crown Lots:
The directors are making progress on the crown lots situation, but there is nothing substantive to report at this time.

Municipal Elections - Get Ready!
2000 is a municipal election year in Ontario.  In November, our township (Addington Highlands) will elect a new council for a three year term.  This is an excellent time to inform yourself on township policies, activities and issues, and to get to know the members of council.  If your own findings would be of interest to other Weslemkooners, please use the Members' Bulletin Board to inform other members.
