NEWS FOR MEMBERS - April, 2000

In the News:
Saturday, 10 am: John Robinson reports that strong west winds over the past few days have blown the ice onto the East shore and opened up most of the main part of the lake - an unprecedented early opening in his memory. He had the boats at Weslemkoon marina in the water on March 31st. As of this morning it is not yet possible to get into Otter Lake, or to Tanglewood from the South end. Regina Bay and some specific properties are still ice-blocked, so check by phone before you travel. In any event, you'll probably want to give today a pass, as they're experiencing a heavy snowstorm and high East winds.
First-hand updates from LWCA members who travel to the lake this month would be greatly appreciated - send them to the weslemkoon webmaster - Thanks.
At the South end, Dave Biernaskie reports that he is now able to travel from Weslemkoon Marina up to the lighthouse, but that solid ice prevails from there North. Dot Jennings reports open water at Tanglewood, down as far as Squally Bay. This morning she and Ted were able to get to Redwood Cove by breaking ice.
Our local experts hope that we'll have open water in a week or so, provided the weather cooperates with some wind, rain and warm days.
Stay tuned to weslemkoon.com - we'll check with the marinas again this weekend and update this page.
The LWCA website will keep in close touch with the marina operators over the next several weeks, and pass along timely information through the website. We hope you'll check often and make weslemkoon.com your primary source for this news.
