Addington Highlands Municipal Election 2006

Voting in this year’s election will be done electronically (using a toll free #) or the internet. You have, or soon will receive, a voter instruction letter and will provide each qualified elector with a Personal Identification Number (PIN).

In order to provide our members with information, we asked all candidates the following questions:

  1. Please give a brief profile of yourself. Why did you choose to run for election at this particular time?
  2. Please give your views on the Official Plan and the Bylaws associated with this plan. In your view, how does the Official Plan impact development in the area? Do you support strict compliance to the Official Plan and Bylaws? How would such compliance be enforced?
  3. Please outline your approach to environmental issues. For example: landfill/recycling and the highly sensitive designation for the waters of Lake Weslemkoon.
  4. How do you respond to waterfront ratepayers’ claim of unfair taxation load? How should the mil rate be set in view of the ever increasing property assessments?
  5. What can be done for Fire Protection for Lake residents?

The Board and the current Council have established a very positive relationship. It is one of negotiation, consultation and compromise.
