Marker Lights

A cottager at the AGM reported that the lights on the large diamond-shaped marker in the south channel near Nichol Island were OFF simultaneously when she observed it. I checked with Reg Smith the LWCA Marker Custodian about this possibility. He stated it would be nearly impossible to initiate the operation of two marker lights at the exact same time with the same sequencing. The marker lights are factory set ,½ sec. ON,1-1/2 sec. OFF. As the batteries age the sequence would randomly change slightly until the battery or the marker would have to be replaced at the end of its normal battery life i.e. 3+ years.

Custodial Visits

Earlier this year Reg Smith asked to be relieved of his custodial visits duties, but stay on as custodian of the marker lights. Four candidates applied and were considered and Guy Boudreau was elected to be the new custodian for 2010-2011 season. Guy will be commencing the custodial visits later this fall in late October and during this upcoming winter. He will contact you personally at the contact number you gave on the LWCA membership form if anything is damaged or amiss at your property and make any emergency repair.
